My fundraising story: Performing arts was a big part of my life growing up. After college, I still wanted to contribute to the arts without being on stage. I thought that if I couldn’t be on stage, why not behind the scenes. I started my fundraising journey when I accepted the opportunity to become a development apprentice at New 42. At the time, I didn’t know much about fundraising, but I knew that I wanted to support the arts. From there, I fell in love with meeting donors and discovering their personal ties to the nonprofits they support. I enjoyed speaking with different communities and having the ability to fundraise for different programs. I hope to continue championing for organizations that work towards addressing the needs of their community, and hope to become a role model for Asian American women within the nonprofit sector.
Why I care about helping nonprofits grow: Nonprofits are an important part of society as they work directly with the community in understanding their issues, and creating groundwork efforts and solutions. I hope to utilize my experiences and lessons to grow other nonprofits and provide them the support that they need to make changes for their community, and into society.
Hobbies: creating hand embroidery art, making and drinking coffee, reading books, watching anime and building mechanical keyboards
Unusual talent: I can binge watch a 12-episode show in less than 24 hours.
