Dom Jones is Managing Director of Strategic Services, where she oversees the quality, efficacy, and efficiency of Aperio’s client services. As an industry thought leader who brings intentionality to every aspect of her work, Dom takes a macro view of Aperio’s resources to elevate client services. She specializes in development operations, databases, and strategy.

Prior to joining Aperio, Dom served as the Director of Development Operations for the San Francisco-Marin food bank. During her seven-year tenure, she honed systems and processes—building a team capable of handling 160% growth in donation activity during the pandemic. She also built and executed a migration plan for payment system data and drove adoption of an internal project management suite, reducing project delivery by 40%.

Previously, Dom ran a data management consultancy that focused on increasing nonprofit fundraising capacity. Her fundraising career began at the Brandeis Hillel Day School and Children of Promise, NYC. At these organizations, Dom played an instrumental role in ramping up fundraising initiatives, securing new grant funding, designing community outreach programs, and streamlining operational workflows.

Dom holds a BS in Psychology and Neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University and conducted PhD work focused on Cognitive Neuroscience. She served as an adjunct professor of Cognitive Psychology during her studies. Dom’s background in the sciences gives her a unique perspective in the nonprofit space, offering a depth of understanding around how humans think, communicate, and make decisions. She lives in Oakland, CA.

My fundraising story: Most recently, I lead Development Operations for the San Francisco-Marin food bank. Previously, I led fundraising and data management at Brandeis Hillel Day School and Children of Promise, NYC. 

Why I care about helping nonprofits grow: I care about supporting nonprofits’ growth because these are the types of businesses in society that make our society a better place in which to live, and this works helps strengthen communities and develop our world in an intentional and meaningful way, that we all get to benefit from. 

Hobbies: Being the best foodie I can be, hanging out with my dog Pierre at the lake and DIY home improvement projects.
